Miva Customer Stores Unaffected By Southern CA Power Outage

Written by Miva | Sep 9, 2011

UPDATED 3:10 PST: Phone Lines Are Now Back Up

As many are probably aware, a massive power outage affecting millions of customers in Southern California, Mexico, and Arizona, occurred yesterday afternoon.

Our power has since been restored, and our TW Telecom phone lines are now back up.  We will continue to keep you updated if the situation changes.  You can also contact Support via one of the three methods described below.

Although we did lose power here in our office temporarily, no Miva Merchant stores were affected by the outage, and we were able to stay in communication via Facebook and Twitter to provide updates and information during the outage, and will continue to do so.

According to the New York Times, SDG&E, the major power provider to the affected area, will be investigating the exact cause of the blackout in the next few days, but believes that the outage was caused at least in part by a transmission failure in western Arizona.

SDG&E is focusing “efforts over the next few days on maintaining and ensuring the integrity of the local power system,” according to a statement on the company’s website, and would then “turn its attention toward determining the sequence of events that led to the outage and establishing practices and procedures to ensure that outages such as the Sept. 8 event are not repeated.”

Please know that whenever our normal phone support hours are temporarily interrupted, we want to stress that customers can still receive assistance and help with their support questions 1 of 3 ways:

We thank everyone for their support and patience while contacting Support during this time.
