Miva Merchant Acquires Its Original Name and Announces a Corporate Rebranding

Written by Miva | Jun 17, 2013

Miva Merchant, Inc. has purchased the domain name and trademark rights to the Miva name.

As of June 3, 2013, Miva Merchant, Inc. is now officially Miva, Inc. again.

“We are very happy about our name being fully restored,” commented Rick Wilson, Miva’s President.  “The next version of our software, Version 9, will be the final step in the process of a complete rebranding.”

“We knew the timing had to be right. Version 9 will be the most robust update to our product in our company’s history, so we knew there would never be a better time to rebrand,” said Rick Wilson.  “The name Miva better reflects the strength of our brand and the quality of our software and services.”

Commenting on the unveiling of the new name and launch of the new brand identity of Miva, Russ Carroll, CEO of Miva, said:

“Acquiring the Miva name completes a six-year rebuilding effort that a team of over 100 dedicated staff have done.  Great care has been taken to place our clients above all else in the restoration of this flagship name.  We take enormous pride in our brand and our vision for future expansions and new, upcoming features.”

The name Miva was originally created and trademarked back in 1997 (and the original domain name registered) by the precursor to Miva Merchant, HTMLScript, Inc.

In 2004, Miva, Inc., along with its name and trademarks, were sold to FindWhat, Inc. a publicly traded company on the NASDAQ (FWHT). In 2007, the current owners including original Miva management bought the original Miva assets, technologies and customer base back from FindWhat and started Miva Merchant, Inc.
