Store Spotlight: Child 1st Publications

Written by Miva | Oct 21, 2011

Educators have long recognized that there are different types of learners, and as such, different methods of teaching basic concepts such as reading, letter recognition, and math skills to children. This week’s Store Spotlight, Child 1st Publications, specializes in providing learning resources for visual and kinesthetic learners, those with Autism, Dyslexia, Asperger’s, ADD, and other non-traditional learners.

Since 2006, Child1st has been selling their multi-sensory learning products, including SnapWords sight reading cards, The Easy For Me Reading Program, and many others on the Miva Merchant ecommerce platform. CEO Sarah Major, a former educator,  resigned from her teaching position, and began the business out of her Florida home in 2006. By 2008, the business had expanded to its own facility in North Carolina.

“We needed a shopping cart that was flexible and versatile, one that we could customize to match our look and feel. Miva Merchant 4 was our first version, and when we upgraded to Miva Merchant 5, we were able to do a whole lot in terms of customization,” says Child 1st Publications Editorial and Marketing Assistant, Deborah Gray.  “We enjoy the many third party modules, the various reports that are available, the easy interface with shipping modules, etc.”

Currently, the store has 127 different products, from teacher’s resources, to homeschooling materials, and student learning products.
